Wish i had the balls to attempt a conversion if i'm honest, having been on the wrong end of a tddi transit, spending my last money on it then having pump/injector trouble i just hate the site of them!

sorry for the hijack but, is the mk6 rwd engine bay as big/bigger than a mk 5. ie would it be easier to drop a 5 or 6 cylinder petrol engine in? say a bmw or similar

Mk7's are different again and have a much better Denso fuel system, yeh they all can go wrong and need more diagnostic equipment but more than make up for it with the performance the drive and the economy ! There's some guys on here that do some pretty lengthy Euro trips so need reliability that's why there running some pretty smart mk7's oh and on some quite high milage too 8)

so some mk7 sevens make it to high miles? ALL 2.5di do high miles and will still run all day no problems, forget diagnostics all you need is basic hand tools or even an ats garage and you will be on your way in no time no matter what the problem, and it will not cost you a months wage everytime it does go wrong either, if you dont like the noise spend the money you save buying a 2.5di on a louder stereo and some extra carpets

its not the noise. its the time it takes to get there in the first place. time is money. not to mention the impression.
