Rear seat fitment?

Postby Possu » Fri Apr 12, 2013 10:29 pm

Got an 07 plate 2.2TDCi SWB with low roof and stock steel bulkhead and need to fit an easily removeable single seat in the back behind the drivers seat for very occassional use.

Does the seat have to be forward facing to be legal?

Is there such a thing as a folding seat (locks down in to place) with incorporated seat belt that I could bolt in to place. If it folded up, I wouldn't need to remove it to get my bikes in but is a folding seal legal and if so, is it a bad idea anyway.

Folding seats are legal.

I have a row of 3 fitted from a Citroen. Only the middle seat has an integrated belt though, the outer two have the belt fitted on the chasis. The seats are mounted onto a plywood plinth, so Imagine they could be fitted side on or backwards. IIRC side and rear facing seats don't need belts, but I'm not 100% on that.

Side facing seats cannot be used for children under the age of 12.
