Mk 8 FWD single rear wheel axle change

Postby Scafface » Sun Mar 17, 2024 8:52 pm

So I've recently purchased 2021 transit mk8 2.2 FWD. Im using it for carrying scaffolding and wanted to put twin wheels on the back but can't find a twin wheel axle without a diff. Could I put a twin wheel axle with diff and just blank it off where the prop connects? Or could I change hubs to 6 stud pattern to take twin wheel? Any advice or help would be appreciated

If you managed to fit it I would think it would be difficult to get it registered and be legal and you would need a C1 license to drive it if it was plated to over 3500 kgs

I'm not replating it. I just want twin wheels on the back and to know the best way to go about that

Best way is buy a twin wheel van if you get stopped and weight check you will still get done for overloading have you thought of pulling a trailer

Don't want to seem rude but all your input is not answering any of the questions I've asked.

There's no twin wheel with no rear traction option so the only one would be fitting a dually axle and you'd need the diff because it holds the rear axle shafts ends.

Also I'm not sure the leaf spring separation is the same (Probably is) and you would need to enlargen the rear wheel wells inside to make room for the inner tire, plus adding fender flares on the rear...

Makes no sense, lots of work to add weight to your van (Axle and 4 wheels...) and not increasing weight carrying capacity.

Cheers,

David
