Fitting a winch

Hi I know this might be a strange request but I need to fit a winch to my Mk5. I need it fitted behind the seats and I was wondering if anyone has ever fitted one in the same place and if there is anything I need to know or look out for. I'd prefer to bolt it in rather then weld as I think it would be more secure with bolts.

I put a manual one there to tow a mini in to the back...

The winch failed though Basically the main thing is to ensure that the mounting has a great big spacer plate under the floor to spead the load.

What are you anticipating winching?

I was thinking on the lines on angle iron across the inside, (winch bolted to angle iron) then with the supporting bolts having large flat washers underneath the floor, so maybe I'll look for something bigger then washers. The winch is to pull about half a ton, I restore and show vintage stationary engines, most could be pushed up the ramps by hand but I've two that's quite heavy and I have back problems so let the winch do the work. I also would use it to winch an electic scooter up as myself and my wife are disabled and some times have to use one if there's a lot of walking to do.
Sorry forgot to mention it's a 12v winch not manual.

I would use the seatbelt mounting holes as they are very strong.

Spread the load over as many points as you can.....

DO NOT WELD.....You WILL rip the Winch out of the floor!

this is what my mate did for his winch, we use it for hauling the quads onto the trailer and into the back. think he bolted the winch to the metal floor.
