colour coding?

Postby trublustu » Fri May 25, 2012 8:23 pm

Hi all :-P

I intend to do some colour coding on my mirrors & bumpers.

Any tips on how to achieve a nice finish, I don't fancy the bag-of-crap look!

I find the search function on here quite frustrating, can't seem to narrow searches or search single topics and end up with lists of vaguely related stuff.

Degrease plastics first, key surface with 400 grit, spray with barrier coat like grip4, if your using cans then use a plastic filler spray, primer out of can is too thin, wet rub down so smooth, you have to do this a few times. Use tack rag get rid of dust etc. spray light layers, you can put a few on then, dont be tempted to load it up, looks great when wet, but soon shrinks back. Once hard, Id give it a week, you can wet rub down with 1200 grit and compound like G3 or t-cut (bl**dy hard work), will look like a mirror 8)

Hi green. nice work, that's pretty funky, different.
I've done a lot of research on plastic, fiberglass and painting over the winter.
Just need things to warm up!!!
I should have some done in time for fordfair/transitmania...
