Fitting swivel base to MK5 SEAT

Postby Shitlaptop » Tue Apr 02, 2013 2:13 pm

Im looking at fitting a swivel base to my MK5 Drivers seat.

Has anyone any knowledge of this being down before,it looks quiet tight to get the drivers seat to swivel 180 to face the rear.

Dont want to buy a base and then find it doesnt work.

Thanks in advance

I fitted a swivel plate.... there is a thread on here somewhere.... my seat is a bit to high also, but not bad. You will have to move the lower seat belt mounting, i also lowered my hand break so it would swivel with the hand break on. Also if your batteries under the drivers seat the swivel plate covers this to make it hard to get to.

Thanks Guys..not sure its worth doing if it raises the seat by that much, ive ultislised the space above the cab...so height could be an issue.

Back to the drawing board. :(

I have a swivel plate on my drivers seat. Its OK, I just have to let my handbrake off to swivel ( so to speak )

That would be fine..can pop it into gear for a few seconds so allowing seat to swivel.

Can i ask if you seat swivels 180 degrees,i need my seat to swivel to face into the rear of van.

How involved (Any advice) was it doing it...?

I bought mine from a chap on here for 45 squid about a year ago.
I just unbolted the seat from the frame put the swivelly bit in between the seat and the frame and bolted it back in. Job done.
To swivel to face the rear I have to take the hand brake off and move the back of the seat forward a bit. Then it will do a 180 without any problems.

The seat will swival 180 deg, with an arm rest with the door closed if you so wish, just need to upright the back and slide it on the runners slightly. I`m pleased i done it.
