No, only at mot time, and I have my "normal lights" for that. Took bit extra time but the trick lights just hot swap over, less than 5 mins.

I used to have two blue alarm strobes in behind my nova grill and flashed if the alarm went off. That would of took some explaining if I parked in the wrong place
