V6's have a unique smell when running, a bit like napalm in the morning. it smells like victory. Klass dude.

Funny that... both my vans have or do smell like petrol and oil mix (not 2 stroke) a bit like when you sit in an old vehicle at a museum... quite a nice smell!

Well done Lee. .. Essex v6 s are awesome motors

Today started van up to set off for work and it seemed a bit smoky (white smoke) put hand over exhaust and my hand was soaking wet, switched engine off, checked dipstick and oil is a nice creamy colour  so either, new head gasket has failed, inlet manifold gasket has failed or the head is cracked
Very Pi**ed off now. van is spending more time off the road than on.
3 choices now:
1: sell it.
2: investigate and do more work, when I get time,
3: fit a different engine (2.8 / 2.9 cologne), when I get time.

Currently in favour of selling.....................

hmm,i hate to say it mate but I rekon there might be your problem, last gasket set we got for a v6 cologne was best part of £90, it was a payen set.
when you took it apart last time, did you find a blown part of the gasket where it had been leaking ?
or as you say maybe a cracked head.

That`s what I thought, when head gasket went origanally I removed the plug from the offending piston and it started and ran fine (bit noisy on 5 cylinders but ok).
The only thing I can hope for is the inlet manifold gasket has failed or leaked, but if it is head gasket again i am not sure I want to be stripping it all again in the garden (van won`t fit in garage). Am really busy to with work and constantly using the car which can`t cope with all tools and materials I have to get. This is why I feel its time to call it a day and get another works vehicle that works.............
