ha, was gonna say i have a spare inlet manifold if you knackered yours.

Thanks for the offer whitemice :D

I still need to get the exhaust system sorted out on mine as all i done was welded the downpipes (where they go from 2 to 1) to my original pinto exhaust system and really would like twin pipes right through, just got to find someone on the island who can fabricate a twin exhaust system in stainless :D .

On mine i found that a two into one ball-joint coupler from the downpipes followed by a metre or so of flexi-tube into a side exiting twin outlet big box just ahead of the o/s rear wheels works great, the coupler from memory was for an austin maxi or something? i welded a few brackets and a 90 degree bend to the box inlet, it has worked fine for around 10 years and now i intend to replace the lot with the various bits i have accumulated,,,and am accumulating,,,,ha :!:

Well finally had a dry weekend, needed to jack the van up to re-attach the exhausts to manifolds, but van under car port so couldn`t jack it up... winched van out and got it into front garden :D jacked it up and re-attached exhausts to manifolds, drained out old contaminated oil and contaminated coolant, filled up with a flushing oil and coolant flush, ran engine ...... started straight up :D for 20 minutes, then drained flushing oil and coolant flush, fitted new oil filter, new oil, fresh coolant and anti-freeze. .......... DONE :D
All top end gaskets (including both Head-Gaskets) replaced,
Valve stem guide rubbers replaced,
New oil + filter,
New Coolant & anti-freeze.
New Thermostat,
New Radiator Cap.

Knew the bull-bars were multi purpose:

All going well, apart from the thermostat housing has broke on one of the bolt holes, have temporarily put a big washer under the bolt to hold down the thermostat housing and broken bit and its not leaking at the moment......................

Does anyone have a thermostat housing for the Essex V6 for sale ???

Cheers.

Seen that one...... its the only one on E-Bay. If I can`t find a good used one then that`s the one I will have to get, my poor van -- anyone ever seen the film "The Money Pit" (starring Tom Hanks)

or, http://www.newpartsonline.co.uk/index.p ... rod_detail

personally i reckon the billet ally one is way to go for a few dollars more and looks way cooler than a manky bit of monkey metal with ford on it, but then again bjt reckons that as a centrally heated artist with a penchant for bathing daily i am a member of the bourgeoisie rather than a soviet overalled inverted snob like he is with his crufts membership for cup hunting cheap imitation gold and silver trophies using weird looking mongrels not to mention his proletarian diy ebay boiler using the cheapest parts known to man amongst other installation hazards whilst his mind is dreaming of 20 grand dog baths..........

Amusing movie

 Ouch, dread to think what my van would have cost if I had to pay someone else to do all the things I`ve done, but it does show that you are a true Transit enthusiast to get your van to its current state and pay to have it done ... I take my hat off to you 8)
