Used to get same issues, richen it up a bit and check the weights in dizzy haven't ceased up.
I set my timing to 13degrees btdc, as per whitemices thread...ran sweet as and pulled like a frigging train in all gears and conditions.

Ffs make sure you keep an airfilter on the carb... I nearly torched franny when carb spat a fireball up its throat... Was a brown trouser moment and dieselhead burnt his hat putting carbon out
