Fitting Ranger Chrome Side Steps To My Mk3

Postby Leeday » Thu Mar 13, 2014 10:29 am

Never put this thread up, so thought I would add it in case anyone wants ideas for side steps.
Bought the Ford Ranger Chrome Side Steps (view topic: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=71838 ) from Transit 04 back in 2010, and have been carting them around with me for ages so last year (Nov 2013) decided it was time to fit them. Had to fabricate mounting brackets which are welded to the inner seals and the Ranger side steps then bolt on (single bolt each end of the side steps).
Here are the pictures:

Thanks 8)

Front tyres are: 195 x 14
Rear tyres are: 225/70 x 15

Wheels are 1970`s Original transit Weller`s (produced by Weller to fit the Transit and not re-drilled), back in the day`s when Wolfrace and Weller etc all made wheels to fit the Transits.

This is the wheels when I bought them before they were shot blasted and powder coated:

Front suspension on the picture is original (but tired) rear suspension is upgraded heavy duty 3 + 1 Springs.

Currently replacing front suspension with new struts and springs (along with the V6 engine: see topic: viewtopic.php?f=13&t=142054

Got these on there way to me as we speakImage
They had 205/70/14 on them before, might go smaller on front 205/60/14 and chop a coil off the front springs for an old skool look, going on a mk5

Very nice,

When I bought my wheels they had BF Goodrich tyres on, but they were not commercial tyres, and as the rear wheels are 10" wide the tyres fitted were way to wide for my van, so after a bit of re-search, I choose the tyres I have which are Commercial KUMHO each rated at 1120kg load capacity, also choose the tyre sizes because it kept the speedo correct as original wheels were 14" all round.

Wow Lee, your van's looking the nuts mate 8)
What a transformation since last time I saw it :D (a few years ago now)
Think I might have to copy the side bars, they look really smart on there.
Will you be at T.Mania this year :?:
