nice 8) looks a bit more space in there :D mines the same it's the back axle diff - i would say even a 3.5:1 would be ok in it :D
see he's got the standard air box on - i need that too  and if he's got an inter cooler then its down near the front right wheel :D

today i fitted a new 4.56:1 diff - same ratio but this one is much better nick - it's cut down on the whining and over run vibrations 8)
also found i didn't have a good body earth and i've replaced that found a few more loose bolts and stuff - generally making it better each time i find one

main jobs to do once i get back from north weald is fill all the bulkhead and floor holes and get some sound deadening down then fit a standard air box as the intake whistle is really annoying

managed a 'proper' road test this weekend - towed petes jag van down to north weald for a run down the strip :D

all the way down the A1 and back i managed to keep it in 6th gear even up the hills - really impressed with it 8)

picture of us ready to set off :D

hi just come across your thread

did you use adaptor plate between engine and box

looking to putt tdi lump and audi 4x4 box in to a mk6 jumbo as specialise in vw
and had enough of the problems in 2.4 engine in my race van and race vw so got plenty of engines and spares

also 4x4 van would mean i can go anywhere as using as a camper too

even tho i'm planning 200hp and 350lbft, i'm still concern its gonna pull 5.8ton train

i used the VW adapterplate from the crafter
it pulled the van fine - since then ive pulled a series 3 109 landrover & trailer 350miles and it did that no problems - i would think 5.8 ton with 200bhp would be no problem :D

brilliant, its what the standard 90ps 2.4 was rated for

can you remember what the minimum wires you needed to run was

and if you fancy cruise control i think you can add it with 3 or 4 wires and an audi switch, will have a look as easy to retrofit on vws

quite a few wires (too many to count) but not as many as the toyota one ive done
if you look back in the thread there is a pic of a cardboard box with all the wires in - thats all you need to run it

the problem with cruise control is i think i need the speed sensor working - i dont have that yet

Greetings Luke!

Thank you for all the info on this build, it was a pleasure to read!
I am making an m-tdi myself and searching for the right transmission. Can you elaborate on the crafter adapter plate? Did you get it premade from some retailer or is it a common part for the different versions of the crafter?

I can't get any decent hits on google from where I'm searchin'.

OHH yiss great news! From the writing it sounded like a VW part, but it just won't pop up in the search results.. Much appreciated! If you can't find it, I'll try asking around the VW mechanic circles, but here nobody is to keen on indulging guys doing conversions :(
