it's ok - it's not that, the noise was there when even a light amount of pressure was applied to the clutch if it was the crank moving it would only be apparent when the clutch was fully depressed :)

still not 100% sure what it was tho :?

another problem now  broken down all ready bloody VW's

drove it out started up ok but the engine was juddering - running very rough so i popped the bonnet to have a look and it just cut out and wouldnt restart - i think its a fuel issue might be the inline pump i fitted (as thats thew only non vw part  ) gonna see if its better bypassed

haha

anyway sorted it* - wasn't VW's fault it was mine    i'd trapped the fuel feed hose on top of the tank between the tank and the chassis - freed it off and it's a million times better than before 8) 8) 8) 8)

waaaaaay faster than any turbo Di i've ever had   almost tempted to run it at north weald

* when i say sorted i still think ive got an issue with the in line pump when i stop run the pump then set off its spot on for a half mile, then seems to slow up - i pulled over stopped the engine ran the pump - you can hear it slow down when its built up pressure then when i set off its back to speedy Gonzalez 8)

If you put bit of pressure on your gear stick as if to put into gear but not quite then do the action that makes the noise, is the noise different when you try this??

I had an o6 1.9 pump duse caddy and even with only 22000mls it was a noisy engine so use plenty sound deadening, oh and mind use the right pd engine oil as they're very fussy on their lube, (you get a good price out of tps proper stuff) not to mention the injectors probs inside the cam cover,,,,,,,oops I'm off on another one again sorry man, the caddy was an £11000 nightmare engine wise,,,,,,,hahaha
