Quick question on paint

Postby ian__lo » Thu Mar 19, 2015 10:13 am

Hi all, I'm going to paint my grille black, it's currently silver atm.
I was just curious as to if there is any specific primer that would be best used without a sand as I'm not about to sand this grille! All them holes and all that surface area - there must be a lazy man's primer??

One day I'll be more daring and attempt mechanical changes

If I didn't have the patience to hand sand all those tiny surfaces properly I might risk a trip to a blaster. There might be a more gentle medium than the normal coarse grit used for getting rust off. Just enough for slightly roughen the plastic. We used to use glass beads on carburettors before spraying them for show cars. There must be something that won't tear up the plastic.
Learning to love rust.........
