moving a fuel filler cap

Postby bigyellow » Thu Mar 19, 2015 11:05 am

has anyone ever moved a fuel filler cap off the door column to inside the van for security reasons or has found a better way to secure the fuel filler cap and the underneath of the fuel tank
does anyone have any pictures or links for this details

There's no point moving the filler, the tank and pipes are plastic, and can easily be cut.
On the plus side, because fuel is cheaper just now, thefts have dropped.

whilst i see the logic, i dont understand why they still have plastic cover caps and no one does a replacement steel or strong version.

you would have thought someone would have done an under cover kit for them,

every security issue seams to have someone flogging me a solution for it

A lot of boy racers used to do it in the 90's

Moved behind rear clusters or just a fuel cell in the boot

all i was thinking was a 90 degree bend to it that's all to turn it so its facing inside the cargo area not outside

and then we mentioned puncturing fuel tanks which i had not thought of so its a case then of some form of under tray for it.

i can remember hearing when diesel was well expensive that people were draining tanks all the time. i was expecting that someone had designed a stainless steel cover that bolts underneath it with sides to protect someone drilling into the tank base.

so i was expecting to see one second hand some where that's all, 1.5mm of stainless or 2mm even is pretty well strong enough to prevent idiots and battery drills

i had not thought of it as a modification for visual purposes only, i shall have a look and see what was done in the modding scene.

it only came about because we were discussing dropping the diesel tank out one day to under-seal above it and to add the extra fuel valves and the linkages pipe work for the second tank.

we have not started work yet its a case of working out what we want to do exactly before we start works. i could be a diesel tank millionaire next week when i start selling them, lol
can you patient a stainless steel biscuit tin lid

Bend upa sheet of chequerplate to use as tank armour, its only stopping dickheads with a screwdriver punching a hole in it, then do what you want with the neck
