T330 3.2 24v v6 Project/Idea

Postby mrrcarney » Sun May 10, 2015 6:38 pm

Ok had a brainwave the other day

and after some thinking this is my idea
My van has the 2.4 TDDI and its a bit boring to say the least with its massive 90hp now I want this van for pure leisure so its also gonna be made look good sound good and be kinda quick but still be able to drag a car trailer

But its going to be on a budget

I considered the 6bta like the man of the scania is doing but after some crude measurements without losing a leg and a clutch pedal it would be tight and rather warm with the turbo sitting about an inch away from my left knee

so my next thought was a v8 but without spending an arm and a leg its going to be crap on the power side

so my next thought was a v6 and I happen to know a thing or 2 about the GM v6 found in vauxhalls I have seen this posted a few times on here but never seen it done so I like to be different and I also happen to know this engine very well and have a load of parts for them in my (I will use it one day junk yard horde of vectra gsi bits)

so the plans so far

omega v6 3.0 intake manifold and throttle bodies
vectra / omega 3.2 engine
4x G cams from the vectra Gsi
Cool running stat
custom 3-1 exhaust manifolds and custom downpipes
omega ecu etc
transit gear box (plate needed dieselhead to make the v6 fit)
lightened flywheel and competition clutch

I had 7 vectra Gsis all at once a few years back and converted most of them to the 3.2 my personal daily was running 240hp and kept eating the gearbox and clutch (mostly 2nd gear)

not sure if I should go for an aftermarket ecu at the moment as I fancy a turbo setup eventually

give me your thoughts and concerns

cheers rob

ps. how can i tag people in the post ?

cheers mate love that Yb van

I think it should fit only place I think it would be a bit tight is the bulk head with the heads

and my only concern is the ecu and wiring to be fair as i am struggling to find a cable throttle 2.5 so may need to use the fly by system

ive not yet done a swap with a fly-by-wire throttle - but i'm doing one now, all i'm going to do is use the donor pedal mod it to suit the transit floor :D

with the wiring if you can get a decent wiring diagram your half way there :D

best bet would be vauxhall omega forums - the one im doing now (with the fly by wire) is a vw passat and the best wiring diagram ive got so far is our of the haynes manual :D

my plan with this one is pull the wiring out (thats how far ive got) then thin it out getting rid of all the unnecessary stuff (abs lights etc.) then refit it back to the car check it runs ok then pull the engine out and fit it in the van :D

Whilst this may sound a little random, have a look on the forum for Scimitars, http://www.scimitarweb.co.uk/sgwrs/viewforum.php?f=20.

There are a few projects there where they've replaced the Essex with the 3.2 Omega engine. There should at least be some indication of where to get wiring diagrams and similar if nothing else.

Ive just sold my 2.6 V6 Omega on a 51 plate...stonking motor and bloody great condition.

Had to sell it as had heart set on a Tranny again...let mate have it for £300.

As suggested the Omega forum is very helpful...just post in the right section and I can assure you will get an awful lot of good advice, they know there cars inside out and I mean that quite literaly.

Hope mods don't object http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/

Hi there, should be a good conversion, more powerful than the BOB and a simpler 'engine only' ECU management system :D

I have CADs for the Duratorq and the GMV6 so could easily sort out an adapter plate.

If you do decide to go this route, all I would need is a block/crank and flywheel to get the clutch 'offset' correct, possibly a bellhousing to get the starter positioning correct.

Good luck fella 8)

Buy a vivaro and do it but don't put a vauxhall engine in a ford

It's like non alcoholic beer and licking your sisters pussy. It tastes the same but it's just not right...
