Anyone interested in carbon fibre??

Postby Postman Rat » Sun Jul 19, 2015 6:31 pm

Hi peeps,

Hopefully this isn't breaking any forum trading rules, (as I'm not officially trading yet) but I was wondering if anyone would be interested in carbon fibre bits for their vans?

I have been working with composites for 10 years now, starting out with racing yachts and have progressed onto motorsports as well.

I've built things like these :)

Ideally I want to start my own workshop making components for the various race teams and companies I've worked for over the years. There has been some genuine interest, although without having physical items to show my workmanship, its hard to land a signed contract :(

So, the reason for this thread is to see if people out there would actually be interested in composite parts for their vans? It could be anything such as replacement bonnets or mirrors, but I have been thinking about side bars and bull bars in CF would be pretty trick. I could also easily utilise composites to make interior panels like bulkheads or camper van conversion parts.

Once I have a varied, albeit small, portfolio, I am more likely to move onto the corporate contract stuff, which will hopefully pay my mortgage leaving me time to still make aftermarket parts for cars and vans :)

Obviously, I'd like to just sign a contract with Ferrari to make all the bumpers for the rest of their 458 Italias and F12 Berlinettas, but everyone has to start somewhere!!!

All thoughts and opinions welcome, and once again I hope I haven't breached any forum rules :)

Many thanks,
Ed

Is the Polo bumper a common thing to modify for a connect?

Carbon doesn't have to be as expensive as people think, and GRP is even cheaper :)

Mk7 door cards :?:

There's definitely some people on here would buy eh RB :?:

Mk7 dash parts/seat trim panels :?: I'd have thought your best bet would be to knock up some sample, get some pictures on here with a guide to prices, and see what response you get then. :?

There have been various postings on here over the years about grp spoilers, visors, headlamp mods, arches, etc. etc. but not one of them ever got off the ground. Big ideas, lots of potential interest but then reality, costs, & time to do it all get in the way of tangible results.
