Max possible bhp from 2.4 tddi

I was on u tube and i saw a skoda (120 bhp) diesel producing 260 bhp on the rollers, it had been remaped and had lpg and nos kit fitted ,so would what bhp would be possible from a transit 2.4 90bhp tddi ??

It depends how far you want to go, how long you want it to last, how big a turbo (lag) you want and... HOW MUCH MONEY YOU HAVE!

dunno if a duratork block will handle much more than 200,,, mine shat a conrod the other day and was only mapped from 90 to 125.

Nitrovan was running over 200bhp so the same bhp should be possible out of a 2.4 ?

speaking to someone about this yesterday he reckoned the engine could go 250 but after that its not worth it, to do that power y0u are looking at new pistons , cranks and rods and so forth but after beefing up every thing the side of the block becomes the next weakness so its not worth it

i was told if i wanted to get more horses to look in another field and try larger engines with more room to increase the power levels rather than flogging a dead horse

we were speaking of lifting the engine i have to one of the regulated higher power levels for the van but we are still uncertain.

the next problem is after 300+ horses its the drive train that will fail to work correctly

If you want seriously big power then a bigger engine is the way to go, Trying to get silly power from a small engine is an expensive business, everything is highly stressed, so reliability and longevity will suffer if you use it to the full. A big relatively understressed engine will perform and last, and will be cheaper in the long run, there's no replacement for displacement. :D

Transit 2.4 TDCi POWER UPGRADE

Here in Australia the common POWER UPGRADE for a MK7 2.4 TDCI is:
Replace it with the 200hp 3.2L Duratorq with Automatic transmission from a Ford Ranger Pick UP/Utility
The 3.2 TDCi Durotorq is standard fitment to US Ford Transits anyway so it is a good and easy fit!
Note: The US engine is downgraded for emissions from Aussie 200 hp to US 185 hp
I will probably put one in my Mk5 when the Auto trans or Lucas injector pump die.
