Pcd redrill, some help me please!!!!!!!

Postby Richiee555 » Fri Sep 09, 2016 7:04 pm

Hi guys, just joined the site, I really need some help, I've bought some Landy Wellers which we all know are 5x165, the transits run 5x160, can anyone please please tell me where I can get a jig that bolts to the Landy wheel but has the transit pcd pilot holes in it, I've read a thread somewhere or seen a you tube vid and it was mentioned that darkbluevanman had given or sold him a jig.

It's doing my head in trying to find one, can someone please please please help me

I'd also like some more info on drilling landy rims to suit my mk4 camper.
Also some recommended 16" tyres to fit on them ? Don't want it to look to "monster truck" lol

what info do you need?

tyres wise 205/55 R16 or 205/60 R16 are good sizes they dont have to be commercial tyres but make sure they are a good enough quality to have a load rating to suit the van :D

the 205/55 R16 will look fine not at all monster truck like :D

Where I can get a jig from please ???
I did think about using a scrap hub, knock the studs out, get a spigot made up to fit the landy centre bore (124mm) and transit hub centre bore (60 something mm), sit the drum sith spigot in the back of the landy wheel and use the old stud holes as the guide for drilling . . . . If that makes sense ?

Just picked up a set of landy Weller's this morning. 99p ebay bargain ! Lol

i've got a jig but i'm a bit far :)

i just had a blank flange about 15mm thick and had machined up to my drawing on a rotary table with the transit pcd in 3mm holes and the landy in 12mm at 36deg spacing's - fitted 5 studs into the 12mm holes and bolted it up to the wellers then drilled through the 3mm holes then unbolted the jig and opened up the holes a couple of mm at a time until they are 13mm then ive got a 60 deg taper bit to put the taper on :D

I've managed to get hold of a scrap front hub (mk5 I think), just the flange the wheel bolts too, knocked the studs out and place it in the centre of the landrover wheel, now just got to make up a spigot ring to centre it correctly and I've got a home made bodge job drilling guide for a fraction (currently £0.00) of the cost of having one machined up for me. Will take pics tomoz.

all my jig is is an old blank plpe flange but it could be anything even a square plate

it was put on a rotary table and 2x pcds drilled in at 36degree spaceings

1 pcd@160x5 and 1 pcd@165x5

the 165x5 ones are 1/2" holes with wheel studs pushed in and the 160x5 ones are 3mm holes

i just bolt the 165 up to the land rover wheel and drill through the 160 3mm hole with a pistol drill

then unbolt it and open up the 3mm holes a few mm at a time (to keep the centres true)

then when its done just countersink it with a 60deg taper bit so the wheel nut can centre it ok

My taper bit starts out at around 10mm and goes upto 32mm. You only need enough of a taper to sit the bolts in, not to much as the wider it is the further down the nuts will go and may end up bottoming out on the hub before clamping the wheel tight !
Just do a little at a time and try a nut in it as you go.

also remember it is the included angle thats 60 deg so the bit should look sharp - people refer to a standard drill cutting angle as 59deg thats not the same angle they are referring to so a 59deg angle drill is not 1 deg out it's 58 deg out - so not ok to use :!:

this pictures should help to understand :D

1st one is the wheel nut angle
