Hi all.
Based in South Africa, Mk8 went on sale here about 2 years ago. We get the MWB 92kw (I think FWD) and the LWB 114kw. I am a bit undecided what will be more suitable.
1) The roof of the LWB is high enough but because of the size you will need an LDV license. Unless you register it as a special vehicle (like a mobile clinic) that in my case will be very possible. But more expensive in license fees. The MWB can be driven in South Africa with a normal car license. So how does one make the roof higher? I need 2m the MWB roof is only 1.86. Any readily available roof extensions?
2) Cushioning the sensitive equipment, air suspension is a must. I see the most popular is the one with the bracket bolted to the chassis where (I assume) the leaf spring shackle used to be. The bag goes behind the axle. I came across glide-rite.com They offer a dual bag on each corner. One in front and one behind. They reckon as a result you have more surface on the airbags, you then need less pressure to get to height. This means smoother ride. Anyone have any experience on this setup?
3) Air suspension also helps to raise and drop it, so the scanner operates level. With only the rear converted to air, will the lift be enough to get it level in a slightly slanted parking lot? Not only front to back but side to side as well?
That is all for now.
Thanks
