hi mate, cheers for the link, had a look but its not what im after, basically ive got a crappy wooden trailer that im gonna brake up and make into a box trailer for suitcases when transporting people from the airport etc,i could make a square box trailer with sheet metal but ive seen these white fibreglass smooth shaped body trailers and i'd like to try and find somewhere that sells these boxs then make it fit onto my frame,i saw a minibus pulling one the other day and it looked very smart like an egg

you'd be best just buying a trailer, i think the type of trailer your lookign for is called a 'tow-a-van' or 'box van' type. The best heavy duty ones are the Ifor Williams, we had a BV6 (http://www.iwt.co.uk/products/boxvan/bv6.htm) and was great actually we bought it from manchester and towed it back on our old minibus, when the winds were severe, sat on the road with no problems atall empty, we were gona go get some barrels to fill it with water but didnt need to.
Then we sold it and for a Blue Line box van but was too small and had a single axle, my advice dont buy single axles as they are way too darned hard to reverse. That was the only single axle trailer we had and it was a nightmare, the twin wheel base trailers are much easyer and dont bounce as much on the road when empty. So we sold it for an indespention Trailer now.

We bought all of our trailers from ebay, the one we have the now had black vynal stuff stuck to it, but removed it then removed all the sticky stuff and it looks brand new for about £400, its only 4-5 years old aswell, very good condition.

We wana make a trailer out of a transit so its the same height as our minibus, and will look smother when on the back.

wow that would be cool a mk6 trailer, cant wait to see it mate.
your right about the single wheel trailers, the one we use at the mo bounces everywhere and we struggle to see it in the mirrors as its tiny!
we're thinking of making a double axle one, just wondered if you can get hold of the fibreglass shells separate from the complete trailers?

Blueline Trailers might cause they make custom trailers, might be dear though and probably cheaper buying a trailer. I e-mailed them asking if they would do a fibre-glass front for the mk6 trailer. they said yes but would need exact sizes ect before they would price it.

Here is a picture of what i hope the MK6 Trailer to look like on the back of our minibus.

Hi
I am gonna state the obvious I am afraid. If you are putting 'rectangularish' pieces (i.e. suitcases)
into a box it will be easier & you will get more in, a 'rectangularish' box trailer rather than an egg shaped one.
Ebay is definitely your best bet, trailers can be found in 'commercial vehicles'. Trouble is they all seem to fetch good money, presumably everybody & their cat wants a box trailer.
I would LUUURV one of the new Brian James Race Shuttles but they are dearer than a new car .

Ratwoods thread's been hijacked!
It really needs splitting off as a seperate 'Trailers' thread.

I agree, it should be split off into a non transit forum really.

and your right about ebay, it seems that its getting more rare to find a good value item on there now. There is still trailers out there that need a bit of work, just cosmetics, that would make a cracking trailer with a little work.

the jumbos are all rear wheel drive, i think? and yes we will be selling all the parts we dont need.
