Full entertainment System in Minibus

Postby dwright2104 » Thu Aug 27, 2009 7:00 pm

Finnaly finished the main part of our Minibus today, and sorted out all the big problems we had.

The biggest problem was the eonon dvd player we bought, it was sh*t sound quality and was buzzing like f***, then the remote headamp output had 2.65 volts, not enough to switch the amp on.

In the front we have a Ripspeed single din DVD player with built in 3.5inch screen, and a screen which came with the reversing camera kit, so hooked it up to the dvd player aswell.
We also bought a tomtom one Desktop holder and charger and fixed it to the dash, gona try find sumwhere else to put it, would like to know if thers a satnav with video out, then hook it up to the screen.

We already have a 12inch sub at the rear, it was one we had previously but it was never gonna fit in the transit, seems ford have use almost all the space availible to them, we have built a custom enclosure that works well. we just need to get it covered in carpet, and i will take pics of and post when I have them.

Our next plan once the bus is finnished is to make a trailer from a mk6 for the bus, thinking it would look much smoother than our trailer we currently have. But probably need some info on how a transit would work as a trailer.

An idea for satnav fullscreen is to get a cheap pc rigged up into the vheichle and get a cheap gps device for £20, run microsoft mappoint on that and since it has VGA out you should be able to hook that up full screen.

the other option of course, is to grab a CUOL netbook thats CE powered, you can run tomtom 7 on that, and as its a netbook with vga out.... you get the picture.

Forgot to take pictures of the outside.

Here's how we had to mount the camera, no-one better rip it off with some tree's.

And here's a pic with the trailer on ready to go away for 5 days.

Yeh its got some 230v sockets and lights inside it.

I forgot to say, just waiting on a 12v power supply for Nintendo Wii, so will fit that in when the cable comes.

Not sure how the Wii will work in a vehicle, suppose the basic games like Need for speed and that would be fine, but no Wii Fit lol.

Nice thread :D

Pretty much what im going to carry out in my '97 Tourneo although i plan on using some bass pumps on the seating to up the sub rating :)

How is your eonon montior mounted to the roof ? would it be possible to use isolation cones from an audio specialist to help cut down on the vibrations ?

well.... this is a great question, ours was 19" and was quite heavy, we opted to fix it to the roof paneling, took us a while to think of the best way to do it, we used 2 peices of 18mm plywood and used no nails to fix the first to the roof panel, and placed two small bolts through the wood and sealed the bolts on the outside and inside. We then fixed the second peice of ply to the first with no nails and a couple of screws. the reason we used 2 was it basically the width beetween the headcloth and the roof panel. then basically screwd the screen to the ply.

I see :)

Think im going with the 19" too - i'd have bigger if there was one available

Im envisioning fitting some custom metal mounts spot welded to the roof with captive nuts for fixing the monitor base - i can then use isolation cones between the mounts and the brackets.

a little update on our progress.

Here we have Nintendo Wii hoked up to the headunit via an aux-in, so it goes to all 3 of our screens. We velco'd a wireless wii sensor bar to the bottom of the screen.
Image

Here is this forum being access'ed from the wii, we have one of those Three MiFi thingys (2nd picture) for 3G to wifi, use it for my macbook.
Image
Image

Here is where I mounted the wii, basically removed the top part of the glovebox, and put a couple of straps through the plastic round the wii, and glue'd together.

Still not got the sub enclosure carpeted, cause it means i have to take it out agen.
