Body work has begun

Postby rob-xcar » Mon May 10, 2010 4:47 pm

The time has come for my van to be painted so its off to the bodyshop for a nice coat of performance blue and a few suttle body mobs.

First job on the list is the fitment of two sets of rear connects arches . When in place they look brilliant.

As you can see from the last image I have retained some of the original fixings to allow for easy fitment. Be nice to hear what you all think about it as I personaly think it looks top.

Looking good, nice idea with the arches. Where's the front bumper from? Is it a one off or a production part - I.E. available......?

Little bit more progress on the arches today , Managed to fit both rears and started cutting the front N/s to allow door to open.

Only problem i've had is the windscreen sealer I used hasn't bonded to the plastic arch so its back to the drawing board(any suggestions welcome.Image

there is a small section that is tobe fitted to the door and the space between is to be filled.

As you can see from the last picture I have cut the arche to allow original bumper to fit underneath. They are not totally central but I can live with it...
Just need to work out how to space the sliding door to clear the new arche

As can be seen in a previous post I managed to mark out and drill the rear panel to alow the use of the original body clips. this worked so well that I couldn't get the bugger offf earlier.

Looking really good 8) , colour coding them aswell?
TransitTrevs connect arches look a bit different to yours, they seem to slope in to the body at the bottom, maybe he cut them...

windscreen sealer will work but you have to prime both surfaces

We have had some progressImage
Image

they have repaired some rust in the top corner behind the screen and have straightened the gutters. We had a bit of rust behind the sliding door rail but not to much. The bonnet is back to bare metal due to an over zelous trainee . Top tint windscreen ordered for when its finished and all holes drilled for arch fitment.
