I love that this thread became so popular whilst I have been away! Thanks for all of your comments, much appreciated! I did the job for a while, but a better opportunity came up, so I am currently working as a rigger until I can afford all of my own equipment! Cheers guys!

my brother went through his apprenticeship as a spark with the sseb (electricity board ) and was well pissed off when his mate came out the army ,went on a 6 week course at tech and came out with a better job than he had .


I disagree there im afraid.. What's the harm in taking the guy up on his offer? If your unemployed and not earning anything, what are you going to lose? - Meet the guy, do a few days and suss it out, that's what he'll be doing with you!

A mate of mine got into plumbing in pretty much the same circumstances and now does well, so i'd give it a go.
