online parts

Postby Mikael » Tue May 24, 2016 7:16 pm

Hi all, don't know if I am posting in the right part of forum. Just want to check if anyone here have bought any spares from a online company called transitcentre.uk. I am in Sweden at the moment with an alternator problem and they seem to have one but I have never heard of them before! Would be grateful for quick reply. Cheers Mikael.

Have you looked at TransitpartsUK, I've bought stuff from them with no problem, and they're members of this forum

Plus they use DPD so postage shouldn't be a problem

What engine have you got, I think the rear wheel drive 2.4 have a vacuum pump that is driven with the same belt as the alternator but are 2 separate components. N

Ah I was only 10 when the mk3 came out so don't know them engines probably more reliable then the tdci engine. N

I think that reliability is subjective, there are thousands of TDCi#s out there ploughing up and down motorways, with no issues, Dominic 1968 has done over 700k miles in his :!:
I don't think that too many MK3/4/5 transits ever did those mileages in a short space of time like the modern vans do :)

700,000 mile that must be well serviced and looked after makes mine look like its just run in with 197,600 miles, but then there are no unreliable engines just unreliable owners. N

I do think you've hit the nail on the head, but there's no doubt that the Di engine is much more forgiving when abused or neglected
My mrs ran my old Mk4 up and down the M1 with over half a tank of petrol in the diesel tank (she still swears blind that the pump was black  ), and it sounded like a bucket of bolts was loose inside, but it lived to fight another day when sorted. I can't imagine my Mk7 would be as forgiving

I poo'd myself when I put £5 petrol in mine and decided to empty the tank and fill up with the devil juice before I starter the engine, my dad used to put £10 petrol in the Leyland tiger coach he drove once a month with a full tank of diesel he never said why, suppose the old engine were built abit stronger and like you say more forgiving, at least your Mrs put fuel in mine parks the van on the drive and tells me "the fuel lights on you best get some" gee thanks for that. petrol was added to diesel then to stop it freezing up,modern fuels have addatives to prevent this in winter :)
