Escort/Connect

Postby Twocky61 » Tue May 09, 2017 9:45 am

I wonder if the Ford Transit Connect is based on the Ford Escort van seeing it is smaller than the Ford Transit?

Then there us the Ford Iveco van? I wonder if the Ford Iveco is Ford's answer to Mercedes's Sprinter van?

So here is a question (though of course by the very nature of this forum I suspect the former lol) do you prefer the Ford Transit or the Ford Iveco? I suspect the former lol

The Connect shares some mechanical parts with the Focus, but it's not based on it as was the Escort van and car :)

Fords answer to the Sprinter is the Mk8 Transit
1997 Mk5 SWB 115 Minibus 70ps Di (Gone, but not forgotten!)
2004 Mk6 SWB T280 Medium Roof 85PS 2.0 TDDi - Vantunered
2008 Mk7 SWB T280 Medium Roof 85PS 2.2 TDCi - Also Vantunered

Was the connect not a replacement for the escort van (new model of a small van), like the mondeo was for the sierrra,
Iveco ford that was a 7.5t was in not :D N
03 transit 125t280 2.0 tdci swb executive collage blue 92 crewcab. Built in Belgium so deserves lots of love. 200,000 miles on the clock.

Nope, there's a Fiesta van, and there was/is even a Focus van, which were van versions of the cars, i.e. a car with no rear seats and the rear windows panelled.
The Connect was designed as a proper commercial, hence the name 'Transit'

There's always been a fiesta van  But I stand corrected on the connect

Anyway in my eyes the sprinter was mercs answer to the transit not the other way around :D N

And a car derived van can go 10 mph faster in national speed limit dual carriage ways as not classified as commercial like a connect is.
