interested in buying a twin turbo V6 24v Transit engine?

Postby Luke » Sat Mar 13, 2010 11:06 pm

at the moment this is just an idea i've had after chatting to somone   :D

i'm thinking about pulling the cossy V6 engine out of my van and fitting a different engine :o - basically a bigger more powerful one  - the new engine i'd be looking at getting 400bhp out of it i'm thinking to get anything like that from my cossy engine i'd be spending a lot of cash and it might be better to flog the cossy unit as 1 and put the cash towards this new engine (which isn't cheap)

i can't say what the new engine would be but it would involve cutting away the bulkhead to get it in

this wouldnt be until next year anyway but the reason i'm posting this is to get opinions on what my engine/box is worth :)

what i'd be selling
It's a 24v V6 BOA 2.9 cologne V6, but it's got 2x stainless turbo manifolds and i have 2 garrett T25's that fit on, they are custom manifolds built specifically for a transit - (normal turbo manifolds won't fit a transit as the steering column is in the way), with these they fit ok 8)
at the moment the van's running without the turbo's but i'd like to get them fitted before i sell anyway :D
the box is a Transit MT75 with the pukka svo adapterplate and flywheel with a new clutch
engine mounts are propper jobbies to fit any late mk1-mk4 mounts - if it was a mk5 it was going in you'd need to fit mk3/4 chassis mounts
i'd also include all the wiring loom trip computer and cruise control
prop would just be a standard transit one but i'd need to keep mine as it's got the F150 back end on it :D

all this could be seen running before removal :D

although it could fit a lot of different fords it'd really be best to go in a transit as it's got all the trick bits to get it in - especially on twin turbos :!:

it's putting out a bit below 200bhp now but with no mods and just the turbos i'd expect around 250bhp, for it to go any higher it'd need low compression pistions fitting and a mappable ecu something like emerald or mega squirt :) also an intercooler wouldn't be a bad idea :D

so opinions on what it's worth please

i know lot's of people would love to have the engine in there van but in reality there's not many cossy transits about and you would need a certain level of mechanical ability to fit it so would anyone actually be interested in buying it :? :?:

it would go well in that but i dunno about the lay of the turbos and down pipes in a mk6 :? my van has the mk5 front steering fitted so it'd go in a mk1-5 ok but not sure after that :)

i really dont know what price it'd be worth but if i didnt have the ability to do build it all myself i'd have paid a grand for it as it's a complete package :D

if i got a grand it wouldn't cover half what the new engine gonna cost :|

what has 400bhp and will fit in a transit engine bay? im guessing we're not talking about a yb......or any other forced lump... i reckon you want something with natural lungs

most common thing that fits that on egay is a 5.0 bmw v8....at around 4k
