mike, did you listen to what he said? really listen? Geneva doesnt allow commercial vehicles.. given the short time between the first showing of the panel van and the production start i reckon they needed an earlier taster...

few more details...

The roof skin over the driver’s compartment bulges upwards slightly, to improve head room (there is simply loads of head room anyway). [ala vauxhall/ nissan etc]
The front drive version will have a payload of around 1000kg (around 2500kg gross vehicle weight) – the load bay floor is around 100mm lower than the driver’s compartment.
The rear wheel drive version, which will also be offered as a chassis cab too, will have a payload of around 2000kg (around 4800kg gross vehicle weight), and the load bay floor will be at the same height as the driver’s compartment.
The sliding doors – when fitted – have a large internal radius on the upper part of the internal aperture.
Expected engines include an emission upgrade for the 2.2l 16valve VNT turbo diesel and – for the USA – a 3.6l V6 turbo petrol engine.
The commercial vehicle ‘van’ will appear at the British CV show on 24th April 2012.
For the vehicle shown already, the front drive Transit moves much closer to Volkswagen Transporter T5 rather than being a front wheel drive version of a larger van family. [ which runs somewhat contrary to what ford has said in press statements last year]
The new Transit range will be made mainly in Turkey (for all markets except USA), Great Britian (chassis cab models only) and the USA (for North America only).
Turkey starts production of the new Transit during May 2012.
European customer deliveries should start in the fourth quarter of 2012, and deliveries in North America by the start of 2013.
2007 T300 110 GLX MWB low roof with Twin side doors & blue ambition paint.

1994 2.0 EFI 80 SWB cosworth 24v work in very slow progress. Radiant Pink.

.

They should have made the 2 liter ecoboost an option in the USA.

It has plenty of power and people want maximum mpd.

Yeh looks a bit Nissan NV200ish from those pics above.

If that is what they are going to produce then it won't be on my shopping list. Be interesting to see how they recover the looks with the 'sport' version.

Purse out of a pigs ear anyone...

Not wishing to be negative but would they (Fords) not have been better off "sharing" a van with say Mercedes (thus having a service/repair backup) rather than spending/wasting all that money developing a new van that the dealers wont have or want a clue how to repair ?

It looks like they have shared that with fiat, peugeot and citroen, its horrid. If that turns out to be the new transit i think theyve shot themselves in the foot. Its a copy of every other sh1t van out there.

It's sharing a lot with the car range, so the dealers should be better prepared to deal with repairs than with the current van.
