I seem to get really gash MPG on my 85 260 53 plate, it's not heavily loaded (rough guess around 200kg) and most of my driving is around town. I toil to get more than 350 miles to the tank even with adding diesel fuel additives nearly every time.

Scrappy weighbridge is how I do it :)
A service won't hurt, and blocking egr is cheap and simple

Add a zero, and it's the max gross vehicle weight

Very happy today, have just done full tank MPG test on my 125t350, its a mixed bag of driving loaded and unloaded, motorway and traffic (Dartford crossing :x ) Came out at 27 MPG, I'm very happy with that :D

I used to get around 30-32 with my K-reg SWB 2.5 D, then more or less exactly the same with a 54 plate connect 1.8 TDCi. The latter was much more motorway driving too, implying the older van got the better mileage overall. :/

As of now I get ~19- but then they don't sell Transits in Canada where I am now, so I had to buy this instead:

did my first true mpg calculation a couple of days ago.
brimmed the tank a few weeks back and brimmed again when the fuel light came on,-
382 miles, -70.48 litre
which is aprox 25mpg!
not bad considering that 340 miles of that was multidrop town work 20, 30, 40 limits so hardly ever got higher than 4th (the other 40 miles was motorway) :D
only ever put bp ultimate in since i`ve had it.

OOPS, posted this elsewhere before noticing this thread

Checked my mk5 over last couple of weeks I have had it and with 62.07 litre of diesel covered 540 miles of town and motorway driving and 60mph max, I reckon that's about 39 mpg so that will do me ! :D

With my MK6 2001 2,0 TDDI 100ps I've been getting around an avarage of 30MPG. That's mostly driving in the city and some country side with mostly an empty trunk. Registration says the vehicle mass is 1780 kg and gross mass is 2880 kg (it's T300 model). I accelerate quite aggrisevely through 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear and on the high way I always use full throttle  . But I do prefer the engine brake over normal brakes always when possible.

Been thinking for some time now to tune the engine (like chip tune) in hope of more performance and better MPG. I just don't know the available solutions for 2,0 liter TTDI 100ps engine and is it worth the cost?

My DCIV 125 SWB 290 has 500 miles on the clock. Managed 35 mpg on single carriageway A roads well laden on our Easter holiday run. Happy with that, as it should improve when it loosens up later. Been getting 25 mpg around town.
