My 1989 2.5Di did 30 mpg, and we sometimes managed over 100 mph.
My 1992 2litre OHC petrol did 22mpg, then fitted simple LPG conversion and got 16 mpg. [equivalant to 32 mpg, gas is half the price of petrol]
I once got this up to 110 mph downhill.
My 1996 lwb 2 OHC efi did 22mpg on petrol, then eqivalent 33 mpg on lpg.
I used to drive fast. 80-90mph or more on motorways, foot hard down.
Then I got pinched doing 59 mph [checked on my satnav] in 60 limit.
I visited the police camera unit and was told that all vans and larger MPVs are limited to 50 mph on single carriageways, 60 on dual, 70 on motorway.
I started to drive within speed limits. The MPG was then 25 on petrol, 40 equiv on LPG,
I could not get a deffinative answer to exactlywhich vans came in this limit, but I changed my lwb bus for a swb ,9 seat Torneo with same DOHC petrol engine.
I fitted the latest sequencial lpg system. [£900 DIY]
Now get 26 mpg petrol, equiv 40 mpg on gas.
It should pay for itself in 10,000 miles.
As good as any deisal transit??
