23mpg on a 2001 350 90PS hi-roof, LWB. All town driving.

Really shocked at that. How much more effeciency could I get by tuning the engine?

Probably not a lot - 23 isn't bad for town driving.

If my calculations are correct I'm averaging between 26mpg - 28mpg on a 2007 LWB HR 350 115ps.

Done on one tank, mixed driving on all roads:-

£88.12= approx 72 litres, 495 miles= 31.25mpg.

If I could stick to 70mph (difficult) then I could probably get a real world 600-650 miles to a tank :)

my old rattly mk4 pinto efi gives about 16-17mpg ragging its tits off around london, about 22-23 with mixed use, and about 28mpg driving sensibly on a long run, ie cruising at around 75mph.

last summer i ragged it home london from cadwell park race track in lincolnshire at a constant 90-100mph with my bike and all its gear in the back and it gave about 24mpg.

i used to think these figures were terrible, but seeing some of these diesel figures has changed my mind, what with diesel being 40p a gallon dearer, and especially as by all accounts many diseasles would struggle to even get near my sensible cruising speed, let alone run at the ton all day long

I thought the same about my dohc. I got it for the quieter and quicker drive expecting it to be a thirsty thing but it seems to be quite comparable to the diesels. Around here diesel is 6-7p a litre more than unleaded.
