I am sure that my speedo is 4 - 5 mph out as i was following one of those new fiats with the large led speedo in the middle of the dash and my passenger noticed he was doing 70 mph whil my speedo was reading 74 - 75 mph. We actually kept up with the other guy for around 15 miles and the same happened at all speeds. Is this right and can it be rectified? Oh and just to stay on topic  i am showing 36 mpg but with my round town driving should come down to around 34 ish.

Just checked my figures over 287.4 miles, used 47.57 litres of fuel at a cost of £50.38. Works out at 27MPG. Not bad really considering the vehicle weighs a fairly constant 2800KG (internal racking and tools) and has roof bars/pipe carriers.

Whilst the speedo reads nearly 5mph out at 60, the trip computer is almost entirely accurate. Average speed was checked with cruise control set to 60 as read by the satellite navigation. Average MPG was checked against the stats recorded above.

31.2 mpg average over 6884 miles (variance between 30.2 and 33.1) 2002 SWB MR 100/280 town, motorway and country running mix of journeys. Carrying driver passenger and gardening kit so not really heavy loads but I do like to zip about. Trialling a less 'Santa Pod' foot on current tank - New Year resolution to keep to appropriate speed limits and make better use of gears.

2.0l DOHC 2000 (V) - now all faults & sensor fixed + forte mine has gone up from 22mpg to about 29.8mpg. Is this good? (260 miles on 40 litres).

This mpg is on a horrible commute. Not tried a long motorway run yet (no motorways here!)

1994 Transit 100 2.5DI (80ps) only 45k since new. Luton style camper body. All in weighs around 3000kg just completed 500 miles at 40.5mpg so I am well impressed, was optimistically hoping for around 30mpg.

Obviously it's a big heavy beast now so average speed is around 50 although it will sit at 60 comfortable and 70 at a huge push with a long run up! I'm happy plodding along and getting 40mpg, just dont get stuck behind me :-)

I did not calculate yet what my mk7 110 ps needs but after changing summer tires for winter tires (at ford dealer) the fuel use indicator ( :? ? whats it called) said 8,4 +/- instead of the 7,4 +/- liter per 100 km with the summer tires. I thought ok, with winter tires the van needs more diesel untill i checked (after 2 month) the tire pressure put in by ford: Just 2 bar  . Now i put in the pressure like the users manuel says and the indicated diesel use has immediately sank to +/- 7,6 liter per 100 km.
What i want to say: tire pressure is very important for your Mpg !
I will let you know my mpg as soon as i found a moment to calculate it.
