Need something moving out of the LEZ - can anyone help?

Postby linsey_young » Wed Apr 10, 2013 2:53 pm

Hi guys, I've been asked to move something from Brentford in west London back up to Scotland as I'm heading down south for other reasons. Trouble is I have a MK4 with a 2.5Di and can't go into the LEZ with it. Would anyone be able to help me out and bring it out of the zone? I reckon if it's going to happen it'll be on Tuesday next week.
If I knew then what I know now, I'd have taken it to the scrapyard...

Glad I didn't though :)

If your mk4 hasn't been in the zone before then they won't fine you. You get 30 days grace from the 1st day it enters.

And whats the "something"?

Really? That's interesting...

The 'something' is apparently a 5' tall food mixer :D

yep tis true but its a one time offer. If you come in after the 30 days without paying the charge you get a big fine! Could do it for you as long as a gearbox swap goes to plan!

Well, I suspect this will be a one off - it's unlikely I'll need to take the old girl back into London again. You never know though. Let me know how you get on with your gearbox :D

From experience, the first time you are clocked in the zone you get a letter telling you off. You can dwell in the zone for another 28 days from your first appearance and still only get the one letter. So, to recap, you can have one month in the zone as a "first offence" so to speak, then you have to bugger off and dont come back unless you have made the van compliant

Offer? If you mean the LEZ 30 day rule it's for the life of the van. You get 30 days to play in the zone the you have to pay or get a fine. Come back AT ANY TIME after 30 days, even if the van changes hands or if its a year later you have to pay the charge unless you fit a petrol or compliant engine AND have the DVLA change the V5.
