You paid "how much??" just to be able to say "Mine's bigger than yours". Well eat my Transit!

As my wife has needed a wheelchair or later also a mobility scooter, I've been condemned to driving a van as a daily for the past 10 years now. It had to be a ford as I'm a ford man. So transit it was.

I've loved every minute of it. My only gripe indeed is the parking situation when you come against 195cm entrance limits. Which is too close for comfort.

The things I love about driving it as a daily:
- It feels like a car, it keeps up like a car
- it has a very roomy cabin, I have always had the two chairs option so had a wide path between the front and rear. We could even help the kids with drinks or seatbelts or anything while on the move.
- The custom I drive now has all the comfort one could desire from power sockets to rear view camera
- The ability to do stuff as a family again (as because of the van we could now take the scooter with us)
- The ability to transport loads of stuff internally
- The ability to haul heavy stuff on or with trailers (donor vehicles for the ford hobby etc.)

Basically the incredible versatility of the van without compromising much on the driving experience. Yes the Mk6 I had before was more rudimental, but still 90% of the above goes.

Another thing is mentioned before; the feeling of being king of the road sitting high up. The impressive nose of the custom does move people out of your way as well as it is a little intimidating. But that is never a goal, lol. Also I love that you can treat it gently and how you just feel the raw power if you get on it a bit more.

I don't think there are many vehicles offering the same package. The fact that the custom has all the luxuries one can ask for really helps though!

Iv just got the misses a custom much better for her than a car but yea the 1.95m car parks are close as hell especially as they don't allow for the overall length on a low spot before an up ramp , I think it was only the fact someone had already trashed the sign before I got in there that I didn't ruin my nice new van there was literally a fag paper between us and the sign !! Just be carful where you park it
And be wary that the arel won't be so happy if you reverse under a low spot!
just follow the onscreen instructions and it's fairly idiot proof...trouble is, we keep producing better idiots

We converted a Transit to a campervan and use her all the time. The insurance is cheaper than our last car. We don't get as many miles to the gallon and she's harder to park sometimes but we wouldn't change back.

I'm £190 fully comp which I think is pretty good. A basic no frills package. Just hope the DI stays bulletproof

I'll try them when I renew :P someone also said footman James, funny thing is I got a quote recently for the car and it cost £100 more with limited mileage (5000 per year) than it does without specifying the mileage  Hows that work.

I often just get quotes even though the car and van are both insured, you wont believe the price difference at different parts of the year  N
