Respray bottom of a transit van or wrap bottom?advice please

Postby tmm » Sat Feb 25, 2017 4:33 pm

The bottom half of my transit camper conversion could do with tidying up, the wings just above the bumper and wheel arches are rusty(the usual places) but not rotton through im looking for idea on what i can do to tidy bottom half up my best option i think is to get the bottom sprayed ? or vinyl wrap it myself has any one had a go at the vynil wrapping? Anyone know what the going rate to get the bottom half flashed over with a coat of paint?

The front wings rust from the inside out the bit above the front bumper is where the mounting brackets are and collect crap in the which causes them to rust

I
Personally I would get a new pair of front wings.
Have you ever done spraying before? You can rent spray equipment for a reasonable price and do it yourself, probably cost less than wrapping.

I've tried the vinyl wrap as my good mate is a signwriter, it is a PITA unless you have done it before putting on flat objects is ok but once you get uneven surfaces and corners it gets difficult you need to heat and stretch etc etc. Spraying is not difficult pick up a half decent spray gun and check out some of the auto body forums for info.

Cheers
Chris.
