Chailey, Barcombe, Newick Matt. and then Shipley,West Grinstead areas. Just because its taxed, Mot`d and Insured doesnn`t mean that they might be up to no good does it? It`s had a lot of work done too for an old Mk6 so someone must be looking after it.

Hi,

I had to join this forum for this thread as I was shocked when I typed in that reg no and found this.

I live nr Banstead, Surrey and have the 'pleasure' of having not one, but 2, pikey camps within 1/2- 1 mile, and over the past 30 years also had the 'pleasure' of sharing our local roads, shops, pubs etc with this lesser evolved sub species of the well know gypsy / 'traveller'.

The van in question was seen today, the reason why I took note of it is because twice in the past 6 weeks we've had 'someone' going along the road I live in and randomnly breaking car windows, in broad daylight.

Last incident was Monday at approximately 11:30-1200 morning/lunchtime.

What connects this and the van mentioned in this thread - shortly after the 2nd incident, one of the victims was out by the road when a tatty, light-medium blue Transit came past, beeping it's horn, with the driver gleefully staring at the 'victim' laughing.

From 30 years experience of dealing with the lesser evolved sub species of gypsy, this is typical pikey behaviour - not only do they always have to take the p*ss, it's obligatory to rub your nose in it too.

I know this 'victim' quite well, and we often stop and chat. As soon as he said tatty, mid-light blue, unmarked Transit with pikeys; I've been keeping a look out.

Guess what drove past today - transit with that exact description, so I made a note of the reg and tried my luck 'pon ti interweb with the reg, to find this thread.

It looks like it's a regular visitor to the local gypsy camps in Rectory lane and Carshalton Road(?) - also (no doubt a coincidence), a farm opposite pikey camp recently had a break in and theft. Quelle surpris...

2 victims of the first (window smashing) attack find medium sized (15mm-ish) nuts amongst the smashed glass, and 2 victims of second attack finding small rounded pebbles (about 1" by 1/2"), with the shattered glass going all through the car, the PCSOs didn't think the perpetrators they were probably using a catapult - I mean of course, someone can throw a pebble or bolt with that much force when they're in a car seat (?!?!?)..

Please can this forum keep this thread 'alive' in the hope that our beloved boys in blue will put their donuts down and understand whoever is using this van needs to be stopped. Hopefully this reg number can be put on their ANPR system, although without any specific evidence I realize it's unlikely..

Big thank you to this site for the info already posted on this thread...

If anyone can add any info to this thread it'd be greatly appreciated..

Hi,

Yes, you're right, I'm not sure I got the model i.e. Mk 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 correct, but we (me and another witness) we're having trouble finding the correct colour on google images.

When this pic came up, the other witness immediately said "that's it".

The colour, wheels (stock - not alloys or with any kind of hubcap), the 'tatty' look and lack of any markings / business name / logo - are all an exact match for the van and we both felt this is the best representation of the suspect vehicle.

I understand it might cause a bit of confusion with you guys who know Transit models inside out - apologies for that, I should've explained it better when I posted the pic.
