observation question

Postby rustytransit » Thu May 04, 2017 11:47 pm

Whilst driving in my transit mark 7, beautiful van with a grumbling gearbox, I come across on a regular basis mark 8 vans with the drivers wing hanging off , what's going on here then , can any body tell me ?

Known fault on customs, the dour hinges are weak and high winds catch them and bend them!
Causing them to catch the front wing.

Someone said that Ford upgraded the check straps a little shorter so the door wouldn't swing open so violently, also a member showed what appeared to be a finger scoop on his 16 plate custom so you can grab the door quickly, another guy told me that the fix was to adjust the wings forward a bit more (the gap seemed to confirm this when i looked) but tbh who knows?

Ford refuse to admit there's a problem tho.
Just don't let go of your door! Number 1, and if you do and you know you did them do not use that door until the wing is removed then door opened then hinges whatever changed.

Latest van i saw today with buckled wing was a 16 plate . So I doubt they have fixed the problem.

Maybe, maybe not

Early mk8 tippers used to bend and the front plastic wheel arches would pop off at the back

Don't they do any bloody testing? Not even basic stuff like a 5 minute drive to mcd's?

Most security guards couldn't secure their pants let alone a yard full of vans  Deeside industrial zone eh, I used to deliver/collect from a place called spool multi media on there (they went bust in 08) isn't the ice rink there somewhere.

I actually saw a red custom tother day probably the only red one I have seen in the flesh. N
