Bought a lemon

Postby RPWC » Sat Sep 30, 2017 9:13 pm

Bad my 07 300 a year now,and the rot is in big style.
Had to have nearly half off side inner sill welded, looked at a 60 plate today, mint, but can't get good price for mine. At first glance it looks really clean, but I was shown today where it has had several body repairs all over,.The arches were starting to rust bad,but I treated them and painted over. Decided to keep until January,as I stand to lose too much on it. Waiting til then won't increase its. value, but will mean I get my money's worth from it.You would think a major player like Ford would underseal their vans from new.

I knew what you meant lol. I cant decide what to do, another 1k opens more doors for me, but only if the value of mine increases too. I have been looking at going back to Citroen,I had an 04 Dispatch, great van, totally reliable for 4 tears, then one thing after another went wrong, I need lwb if I go for that though, been offered 2,6 min for mine, against a newer van, but will have to wait until tomorrow and see what the deal is. Thats for a Citroen though. looked at scrappage, could get 6600 off a new Transit, but it means spending 18k. Thats more than I earn each year. Don't know what to do, if only my dad were still alive, he would offer a practical solution

I’d be looking to buy a similar aged van for a decent price. If it’s as bad as you say you’ll struggle to make any money on it.
Sometimes it’s best to cut your losses and find something else, especially on a van that’s only 10 years old, ford should be ashamed of themselves.

Only 10 years
One van year is ten human years
So that's 100 years old in van years

They are built to a price, to last ten years. If they lasted forever no one would ever need New One, so Ford would have gone bust, and you wouldn’t be able to get parts, so you’d have to buy a Vivaro.

Sorry AKE... ford cars are built to last for 10 years, commercials are only 8 years. Both are 120,000 miles and is the industry norm
