looking to buy a mk 6 -7 transit what vans to avoid engine wise etc any help appreciated been running the bomb proof smiley for years just got writ off :(

Avoid mk6 2.0L 125 tdci & 2.4L 135 tdci :wink: N

Only mk6 tdci to avoid :wink:

All mk7's are tdci but run a better fuel system then the mk6. N

Also avoid the mk7 130 which was the early ones

If you get a mk7 add some security measure like a dummy obd socket and a more secure door lock

I know the 135 has a bad rep on here but never had any problems with mine gen Ford fuel filter oil and filter every year I put a timeing chain kit on it at the very start at a tick at startup as with turning it into a campervan it had to last it was jumped off once when battery died unexpectedly in the middle of the day and that’s the only time it let me down in 9 years of ownership as like most forums we allways hear about the bad vans someone on here once said their is no such thing as a bad van but their are bad owners I just wish my mk8 had as much get up and go no matter what you say about a mk6 135 they do go well when you have a good un

There was a litle girl who had a little curl right in the middle of her forehead,when she was good she was very very good but when she was bad she was horrid just like a Nedley van :mrgreen:

i personally wouldn't touch another ford diesel, i got the 2.3 petrol LPG mk6 and its so so cheap to run, plenty of places sell LPG when you start looking, i normally fill up at Morrisons ar 59p ltr,
