Andy the Gasman wrote:This may help, If you get the May 2008 copy of car mechanics there is a breakdown of all 13 groups of emission levels and these seem to kick in, in 2009 another increase in 2010 and god help us thereafter as we will ALL be royally screwed by these delightfull Ba****ds in government. As i read it these apply to all cars first used after March 2001 Y reg and younger. Anything older than this do not have emmissions levels recorded and will be taxed at two levels 1,499cc or less will be £120 per annum, 1,550cc or more will be £200 per annum

For Example 262g Co 2/km as from 2009/2010 ved will be £425 per annum, from 2010/2011 £440 per annum and from 2010 the first years road rent will be an eye watering £950 one off for first registering.

Sorry for the cardiac post but this is how i read it, it looks like the agenda is to drive people off the road and onto the buses, trains pushbikes. What I would like answering is where all this extra money will be going?

So it looks like the 2L and 2.5L classics will be £200 a year, which is £15 more than we are paying at the moment. Not happy about any increase but £15 isn't too bad. As for going on the bus, I would like a realistic suggestion as to how I would do that with 200 boxes of shoes......

I thought up to 3.5 tons and cars were Private Light Goods, ie the same taxation class. So wouldn't vans be included in these rules? You are right though, it's not clear.

200 pairs of shoes? you cold allways walk?

I see your point thought! I dont thnk the tax on our old vans is a problem but most of us have cars and eventualy the tax will go up on everything, we have the most exspensive fuel and now the most exspensive tax to go with it!

Been thinking of this most of the night, damn you guido fawkes where the F**K are you when you're needed? Can someone post up the emission levels for a Mk6/7 please. I stand by my previous post when i say we are going to be royally screwed on this one. I think it don't matter if it's a van car or whatever we are going to pay big time. Best advice i can give is fire up the compressor buy some waxoil and start buying/spraying 1999/2000 transits.

Best make that pre 1997, cos they won't have any emissions recorded at the DVLA.

What if there are no emissions logged for your van (pre 1997)? I bet the tax is cheaper!

Hi fred,i think they won't be affected as its from 2001 on "for cars anyway".I'm still in the dark really as no one seems to know if vans will be affected or not. :?
