Tell you what...

I'm going to make a (small) challenge. £100 reward for the first person who can get a 2.5di in a standard size (i.e. no chopping/channelling) roadgoing shell down the measured 1/4 miles in under 18s at North Weald or 17.5s elsewhere.

A few conditions though...

Only standard ford 2.5di engine parts may be used (i.e. anything which was factory fitted by Ford to any 2.5di transit. Standard parts can be modified/tweaked adjusted. (I.e. factory turbos, injection pumps and non marine injectors).

Transit axles must be used

Road legal tyres must be used.

Van must be roadworthy and driven to the event.

Passeenger seat(s) must be fitted

The time must be recorded at an official forum event with at least 4 witnesses

I think its doable, but will definately be a challenge

So long as its road legal...

I recon its possible without NOS. I have a couple of ideas which should knock some time off! I think its definately pissible.

Why 17.5 elsewhere? If it's "pissible", does that mean you have to be drunk whilst doing it? :P

I reckon it is possible to do way better than that, but you'd need a huge amount of boost with adequate charge cooling, and massive overfueling, which would not be possible with any of the standard injectors. The subtle sport of tractor pulling is where to look if you want huge power from diesels, with diy backyard technology, achievable within a reasonable budget. 8)

Tim has a way to go yet.

Yes, so am I.

But Tim is disqualified due to non standard turbo, injectors and injection pump! That was in the 1st post.

North weald is slower than other surfaces as its not a dedicated drag strip. Others are smoother with a grippier start line

Great, so the first person to make a high powered fuel gets £100. I have read the rules correctly?
