1st couple were not tweaked above what I use it on the road - they were late 19s...

I'm all for a bit of fun, otherwise I wouldn't of run the van, just seems to be pisstake to those who buy and run newer vans.

Can wear a bit thin sometimes.

Time was 19.02 at 72mph, and I'm not posting it again......

Before you started getting upset (wrong word...) did I say anything about standard transits? The V6s are all aftermarket conversions and I'm sure if they could make tweaks at the track they would have... I know one of them tried race fuel ;)

well minor in the latest sea trials of ye ricketty olde wooden trike it cruises @13 mph so thats about 0.21 miles a min add 30 secs to reach said speed i estimate my 1/4 mile time to be around 2--3 mins depending on wind
unfortunatly i couldnt make it this year but you can give me the fifty spot anyway if you want

Not upset Matt, just trying to put things right, only there's been a fair few comments over non-DI powered vans, and that includes mine. Yes they aren't something that can be tinkered with trackside, but for a little 2.2 they are pretty potent.

It's not just what you've posted by the way, you just happened to be the last comment before I bit....

I'll still be going next year, and yes we all missed you, even me ;)

Despite what has been said LB, you were brave enough to put a stock Mk7 down the strip, all credit to you for that and I am sure that you enjoyed the fun as much as all of us. 8)

We all had a good time, just as we should have. :D

Just for the record, I believe the alleged 'competition' between the 'old skool tuners' and the 'Mk7 massive' is simply a figment of the forum's imagination, as any cooperation between myself and Martyn would bear witness to.

your right tim - i wouldn't knock anyone who has the bollocks to actually run their van 8) - but 19.02 at 72mph is pritty sh*t.......... just joking LB

if you look at martynx 1st 2 runs 20 odd seconds and he was gonna give up everyone would have thought the van was slow but he managed to knock 2-3 seconds off his time. its only when you get as experianced as g-man, browny etc that you get to the point where you have pritty much the quickest time for your van in that spec. given a quieter day robbie, tim martin etc. would have all got there times lower :D

Hi Luke, time for the run for the 2.0 MTDI Mk 6 was 20.09 @ 65 MPH. Each van only did one run, when the turbo blew on the 2.0 we retired at that point as the 350 was towing the trailer 190 miles home, and didn't fancy risking it. I've never raced before and feel I could have improved the times somewhat given a few more runs.

Limback, you may have noticed that those of us who do the modifying, fiddling and tweaking have one thing in common, the liberty to do that, is far more important to us than the vehicle itself, so we tend to buy old rattlers, if you push them too hard and they go bang, it's no big deal. I find them just as reliable for day to day use, when maintained correctly, lots cheaper, much more fun and much less of a worry, than owning new ones.

The good King of England has your chair btw, he has now made it his new country seat :D
