1/24th scale MK2 Transit Van models

Postby neilc69 » Thu Jun 23, 2011 9:51 am

Hi guys
Not sure if any of you are interested in this little project that I have been working on but here are some photos anyway.
It is based on the Esci Transit van kit that was manufactured a few years ago.
Let me know what you think!

This is the original Esci kit body shell

This is my attempt at a 100L long wheelbase version. I will be working on a twin wheel one soon.

I have also had a go at a chassis cab

I bought a few of these many years ago, even from a service area on the M62. Originally Ford ordered 10,000 of them for a promotion models only for a secretary to add another 0 in the order ie 100,000 so Ford sold them where they could. I still have all of mine in 5 colours from the box. Yours John L.

Nice one!!
What other colours were there? I have only ever seen the white "Paris Dakar" van, the Yellow "Hertz" one and a red "Ford" promotional one?

Looking good, you have some real skill there!

Has any one seen a Mark3 kit?

What van is it? Have you got a photo of it? it might be possible to make one.

Has any one seen a Mark3 kit?

Am I right in assuming that the MK3 floorpan is the same as the MK2?
If so, I might have something planned!!

Nice van!!
That wouldn't be too difficult to do. No doubt you have the paint codes (or even some paint left over!), you know what style the wheels are so they might be available in model form, and the side pipes could be found in another American style kit.
There might be a bit of work to do to backdate the kit to a pre facelift type, especially with the rear lights, but nothing impossible.
Do you do any modelling at all?

not since i last built an airfix kit 20 years ago :) the wheels are rial 16" but similar to bbs rs and the paint is ford mercuary grey - the tricky bit would be the front spoiler :D

Not impossible though. A couple of bits of plasticard, some filler and a couple of hours should produce something close.
