My new mk7

Postby sortedvti » Sun Jun 03, 2012 8:22 pm

Well I sold my mk6 and decided to buy a mk7. I drive an 09 plate for the company I work for and used to hate getting back in to my mk6 at the end of my shift.

Since buying it last Thursday I have bought 18" alloy wheels, a DVD/sat nav head unit, had it remapped, and fitted a mondeo mk3 steering wheel. Black side repeaters.

I've ordered a few bits off of eBay that are still to come. Silvertec bulbs for rear lights to name one.

Tommorow if the weather is ok I'm going to fit silver stripes to the front bonnet and bumper and carpet the inside of the load space.

My plans are to paint the mirror caps, bumpers, door handles in black. I'm also going to fit electric mirrors and windows. A friend of mine has got me some new bumper corners also. Eventually i plan to strip the headlights down and paint the insides black.

Theres a few other bits I'm going to do but il post pics once I've done them.

Here's the new wheels.

Cheers.

Yeah I've heard there a bugger to split. I done it to a Lexus is200 I had years ago and that was an arse too. A mate of mine has some headlights for me if I mess mine up.

Great Looking Van 8)

I'd like to paint my bumpers, what paint do you intend to use on yours.

Good luck with the lights, if you find a good technique for splitting them please let us know or make some money doing it (I'd happily pay) :D

Cheers guys.

I've done a bit more to the van since that pic. I have installed
electric windows,
covered all the timber paneling in the load space in black acoustic carpet,
fitted silver sportvan stripes,
tinted the windows,
carbon fibred the dash,
fitted smd LEDs to the load space,
Changed the numberplates for plain plates,
Silvertec brake light bulbs,

Il post up some new pics soon.

With regards to the paint, a friend of mine is a painter so il be taking the bits off and getting him to paint them.

Also if anyone can recommend some modifications that would be well handy!

Sorry if this has already been tried, but on my son's Astra, we put the lights in a low oven to melt all the gluey stuff, and they "almost" fell apart.

Hi,

Van looked cool when you bought it, but it looks wicked now.

All those various "other" Ford bits you've fitted, look like they should have been there when Ford designed the Transit, Great Job. (You don't work in a Ford dealer do you?)

Can't wait to see the rest.

Paul

You've been busy, mk7 headlights melt before the adhesive does ! Been there tried that :( I've got smoked side repeaters on mine too, how about black Ford gel badges ? I got mine from DMB graphics  I prefer my sport without the stripes

cheers guys.

I was toying with the idea the other day about removing the front ford badge and just having the 2 bars all the way across. is a bit of work but i reckon it would look the nuts. theres a plastic welder near me so id probably just take the front bumper off and get hi to do the rest. he's pretty cheap too. i had the numberplate recess smoothed over on my old lexus by him and he only charged me £25. the only problem i can see is not having the genuine mesh to go where the badge was. id probably have to get an aftermarket mesh that is similar to the ford one to replace.

With regards to the gel badges. i probably will black the rear badge, but as im a signwriter il probably make the badges myself. cheers for the recommendation tho.

I have only had the van just over 2 weeks, i dont want to hang around with it as i know il probably end up just driving it and doing nothing else to it. a friend of mine owns a breakers yard and has said he may be able to get the sportvan kit for me. he's asking about. so hopefully that will turn up trumps and il have a kit on it soon. probably not going to be cheap tho.

and the headlights. you say you have put them in the oven before? have you actually done the mod or is it something you gave up on? thats wierd how the headlight melted first. the headlights i done before were all plastic and it worked a treat. wonder whats different.
