My 1966 German Mk1 Fire Transit

Postby RP123 » Tue Jan 08, 2013 10:13 pm

Hi guys, I'm probably not putting this in the right place but thought you might like to see my Mk1 I have recently bought and imported from Germany. I bought it just before Christmas and it was delivered to me this afternoon on a German Transporter.

Reading through the paperwork it looks like it was built in November 1965 and registered in June 1966. I bought it from a dealer who specializes in German fire vehicles and equipment. It had just finished its German fire fighting service life and has never been privately owned.

Anyway here are some pictures of it, a couple of when it was in Germany still,

And one of it after being delivered at my work place

Thanks mate. I have a few ideas/plans for it but for the time being I'm going to get it on the road and registered and use it as it is for this year and get a few shows in with it, then maybe over next winter once I've finished my mk5 crewcab project I may start on the mk1.

Now that is one nice machine, what's the KM's on it?
Has the back been stripped out?
Dare you say how much it cost all in or do you preferring not to say?
Life is not a dress rehearsal

Thanks mate, its done 12,000kms. It still has all the racking and shelving in the back along with a opening wooden bench seat with storage underneath. It has current Tuv on it till April 2013 with no advises not that that's any use over here.

I paid 3,250 EUR for the van and 1,200 EUR to transport it to my door, not bad really for around £3,650 in our money all in. I'm well pleased with it.

Ive been looking at a few of these in Germany. The best thing about them is that they are usually been in service in small towns where there are hardly any fires. So well below 50K KM and very well maintained by the fire dept. Mostly in petrol, but there are some Diesels out there, but not many. For the price, its well worth it, and just stick LPG on it.

I decided not to go for one, however tempted I've been, because their Wrong Hand Drive  . Im not prejudice, I can drive a LHD just as good as RHD, I've just got to consider the girlfriend too

Lovely van and in 1st class shape. Well done 8)

Well I have tried several times today to load some up to date photos of my van to this thread but for some reason every time I finish composing the message and click submit it brings up the home page of the website with the text 'requested page could not be found' :?: :?:
