My Transit MK6

Postby Dazgough » Thu Apr 04, 2013 2:23 pm

Hi Guys,

Below are pictures of my very first Transit. Indeed my very first van! :D

Its only done 54000 miles and seems to be tidy. Has quite a few toys too. Its the 125ps T280 version and seems very nippy :D

Have not done much too it other than add some wheel trims (for now) and added some smoked side repeaters and the now obligatory MK7 rear light clusters.

And finally the engine bay (why not)

Hi Blue Estate,

Its a 55 Plate. Yeah it is very clean.

Bought it off my bro so know its been looked after too.

Really pleased with it. No rust underneath either which is rare ha ha

Noticed your profile you have been remapped ;-) Do you recommend?

Cheers blue estate and belly!

Defo gonna seriously look into vantuner

Not sure about egr valve and manifold. I have not yet done it and doubt previous owners did so will have to take a look.

Are there any downsides at all to blanking the egr?

Cheers

No downsides only upsides to blanking the egr  Basically you wouldn't go for a run with a tube from your arse into your mouth ! But that is what the egr does to your van :( Take the inlet manifold off and clean all the gunk out which is caused by the egr and you'll see what I mean  If that was my mk6 I'd get that manifold cleaned out blank the egr, change the fuel filter for a genuine Tdci one and start putting 2 stroke in the derv :D

Cheers belly,

Will get on the case then :)

Heard about the 2 stroke in the fuel too. Does the engine then become dependant on this after a while of using?

Also, what benefits are there to be gained from a tdci fuel filter?

No the engine won't get dependant on 2 stroke  Basically modern diesel has less ingredients in to keep the Eco warriors happy but the downside is less lubricity to the injection system which if we're honest isn't the best system out there especially the very very very fussy Mk6 Tdci's

Regarding the fuel filter, as mentioned the mk6 Tdci's injectors are very very fussy and unfortunately the Achilles heal :( So they have a finer micron filter than Tddi mk6's and tbh it's a false economy not to fit a pukka one considering the price of Tdci injectors

There's loads about the Tdci's on here  They drive great are quite sprightly and good on fuel BUT those injectors are a bag of nob ! Btw I used to have a mk6 2.4 rwd Tdci 135 :D

Cheers Belly,

Now your making me nervous about my injectors :( Dont want them to fail any time soon

Will defo take the advice and invest in a tdci fuel filter and will trial some two stroke also.

Is the fuel filter a simple matter of screwing the new one on?

Cheers

Old one off then fill the new one with fresh clean derv before fitting, once fitted start the van and hold on a fast idle for a couple of mins :D

Hi guys, interesting reading

Afaik my van is original. Maybe I should look into doing this to my van too.

Can I ask you belly, how much 2-stroke do you add per gallon of diesel? I only put in £20 of diesel a time lol :D
