Is my transit good value for money? Help !

Postby spike789 » Thu Sep 11, 2014 9:54 pm

Hi everyone. i just bought a 2002, Transit, with 110,000 miles on the clock, it has 10 months MOT left, for £1,200 I know the owner and there has been no accident since passing its MOT 2 months ago. The van is in good nick. I know giving guestimates is a fools game. but do you have any views about whether on not my buy is good value? The current owner bought it about 12 months ago for £1,300. Stephen.

Sounds like a good deal, it all depends on the condition of the chassis and outer shell and whether they are rotten. I've just bought a 2003 swb with 103K on and I paid 1600 quid for it. Other than a good clean and some small touch up work on the body it is ok. I don't pay much attention to MOT's either because we all know people who can pass anything, you've got to inspect it properly and judge for yourself.

That sounds about right for a van with that mileage. My old one had 174k on it and sold for £750 but was rotten as hell. I think for a van with only 110k on it he's done well.
