my vans just been writ off a trusty old reliable mk5 hight top lwb thinking of buying newer but heard bad reports too expensive for parts unreliable my old mk5 cheap parts easy to maintain runs on asda cooking oil paraffin etc don't know what to do mates just had new pump on his mk6 £1200 mine reconditioned £185 aprox fit myself easy if i buy one which is best engine etc people say get a good one and great one get a bad one and spend loads mine 2.5di runs for ever
do like newer vans but the smileys bomb proof easy to repair cheap and run on anything lol £3.50 5 litres asda cooking oil put no diesel in for 2 months
The biggest issue is rust, I probably have 1 of the worst fueling systems on the mk6.....the tdci, that said its got 212,000 miles and not cost me that much, injectors replaced last year.
To be honest if the newer vans have beenbwell serviced they should be OK. N
