Which one to buy

Postby fatty » Thu Dec 08, 2011 9:39 pm

Hi, Can some one help with my dilema !
I am looking to buy a new van for my fitter, He tavels at least 90 miles each way to and from work plus daily running around so doing approx 230 miles each day. he has around 1000kgs of tools and equipment in the back and very occasionally he tows. Most of the miles are motorway.

I was looking at a new 350 MWB Medium roof, front wheel drive, 140, with air con and blue tooth. This would be a factory order.

I have been offered a year old deliver miles only 350 RWD high roof , 3.2 200ps, Trend with air con, rev sensors and all the toys.

Which one would be the better van for motorway driving and always being fairly laden.

Does the 3.2 use much more fuel that the 2.2 140.

HELP, I cant make my mind up and dont know any one with a 3.2 5 cyclinder to ask.

Thanks fatty

Don't worry 3.2 owners are like buses on here you want one and they all come along at once
As for the fuel the 2.2 is quite good for mpg but does eat front pads as i owned one and done a set in 25k but it was fun to drive :D

The 200PS will use more fuel, especially around town :!:
It can be very good on motorways if held steady :)
You'll never notice the load or what you're towing with the 200PS :!:
There's no particulate filter on this model :D

If your driver is the sensible sort and the insurance isn't too high, then my choice would defo be the 200PS :D

I have a 2.4 140 lwb high roof fitters fan fully racked out with inverter welder etc - shes to the max weight wise and I dont tow.Minimum 70 miles per day but sometimes up to 450. I'd echo the previous poster and say its hard on the front pads. 20 k miles. Its crap on tyres too - eats them. The fronts are really bad forever swapping them due to ford crap design. I have all the bells and whistles which is a bonus. I used to get 26 ish to the gallon, Im on 90 thou now and she has a leaking rad from the crimps, whiny diff and an as of yet undiagnosed engine issue. When shes good shes very good put when shes bad shes a true dagenham dustbin (turkish at that)

I would also go for the 200ps, especially for laden motorway use
