Hi could anybody please tell me if there are any problems to look for when buying a secondhand transit, I am looking for a late mk5 to a mk6 prefer a rwd either a swb or a mwb thanks. Kev

Hi
I wish i had known when i purchased mine, before you buy see if a mk6 starts first time cold if it doesn't but starts second time then the chain tensioner will need doing.

I do know a fair bit about looking for cars but just wanted to know if there were any real problems with transits other than the rust, mainly engine problems or things like that to look out for. Thanks spike I will check for that.

Hi,
I am the owner of a small fleet of Transits, and always preferred to lease them rather than to buy. In fact, I preferred to lease when I first started my business with just one van! It always seemed to make sense to me, as you were getting the best deal possible and the reassurance of knowing that the maintenance was lobbed in as part of the deal. The best thing is the fact that you can return the vehicles after the agreement period and renogotiate a new deal with the latest models or buy it outright.
